Diabetes is a disease in which the body's capability to use blood sugar for energy is impaired. Type 1 diabetes has a different set of risk factors than prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Things that raise your chances of acquiring a disease or condition are known as risk factors. Having risk factors does not guarantee that you will acquire a disease; it only indicates that your chances are higher. Smoking and obesity are two risk factors for type 2 diabetes that can be controlled. Some risk variables, such as age, are, nevertheless, uncontrollable. A person's body becomes less and less efficient at managing blood sugar levels as they age, increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
