Title : Precision Diagnostics and Medical Devices: Innovative Imaging Technologies for Lung Cancer Screening in Large Populations
Abstract:
Precision diagnosis is an essential part of precision medicine. Diagnosis of lung cancer frequently occurs in its later disease stage. It is important to note that the prognosis for long-term survival with lung cancer is very poor. Early detection of lung cancers may lead to an improvement in patients’ health-related quality of life and a reduction in mortality associated with lung cancer. Much research has been devoted to develop advanced imaging technologies for early diagnosis of lung cancers with the aim of improving patients’ outcomes. The advanced imaging technologies being developed offer the great potential for more effective screening of lung cancers in large populations. This talk will discuss cancer screening programmes for early diagnosis of lung cancers and the benefits and risks of innovative imaging medical device technologies for lung cancer screening in large populations.
