Biography:
Maria Alejandra Torres Amaya is a microbiologist with a Master 's degree in Microbiology, specializing in tissue engineering. She is currently a researcher at the Instituto Distrital de Ciencia, Biotecnología e Innovación en Salud (IDCBIS) en Bogotá, Colombia. With over 8 years of experience in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, Maria has been actively involved in the development and optimization of preservation protocols for human musculoskeletal tissues, particularly osteochondral allografts. Her work integrates advanced methodologies, including artificial intelligence-assisted analysis for histological and cell viability assessment. She plays a key role in both research and operational processes at the District Tissue Bank, contributing to scientific innovation and the implementation of quality standards in clinical tissue applications.
