Abstract:
Cancers that initially respond to chemotherapy may develop resistance, leading to unexpected tumor growth. This phenomenon, known as chemotherapy resistance, renders the treatment ineffective in eradicating cancer cells. This situation is profoundly disheartening for everyone involved, from patients to medical professionals, as it negates the progress made by previous treatments. Consequently, it is imperative to alter the therapeutic regimen when tumors cease responding to the current chemotherapy. Oncologists must have a thorough understanding of the factors contributing to drug resistance in their patients to provide effective treatment. The importance of monitoring chemotherapy resistance has increasingly become a focal point in oncology. The extent to which oncologists monitor chemo-resistance is influenced by their knowledge of the subject, their attitudes, and their clinical approaches. In light of this, a recent educational initiative aims to enhance the understanding of chemotherapy resistance among oncology healthcare professionals.
