Abstract:
Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze global research trends and emerging themes in the application of stem cell biology for cancer therapy. The intent is to map the intellectual landscape and identify key areas of focus and collaboration from 2020 to 2024.
Methodology: This research employed a bibliometric analysis of 960 publications from the SCOPUS database. The analysis was conducted using the Bibliometrix R package and its Biblioshiny interface to examine publication trends, key contributors, and thematic clusters.
Main Findings: Annual publication growth was 9.1%, with China and the USA as leading contributors. Key research themes identified include the tumor microenvironment, immunotherapy, and mesenchymal stem cell therapies. Emerging interest in exosomes and cancer stem cell communication was also noted.
Applications of this study: This study applies to the fields of oncology, molecular biology, and regenerative medicine. It can assist researchers, funding agencies, and policymakers in identifying trends, collaboration opportunities, and underexplored areas for future investigation in stem cell-based cancer treatments.
Novelty/Originality of this study: This analysis provides a synthesized, data-driven overview of the current research landscape. It offers a novel roadmap by systematically identifying evolving themes and critical knowledge gaps, such as the long-term efficacy and mechanisms of stem cell therapies within tumors.
