3rd Edition of International Conference on COPD and Lung Diseases

Dear Conference Attendees,

It is an honor and great pleasure to write a few welcome notes for the conference focused on obstacles and developments in the field of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) entitled "Breathing Life: Advances in COPD Management and Respiratory Health" within the "3rd Edition of International Conference on COPD and Lung Diseases" that will take place in Rome, Italy and Online on June 9-11, 2025. Due to its high prevalence, disability and mortality,  COPD has become a worldwide public health problem in the last decades. The 2019 Burden of Disease Study (GBD) stated that COPD is the third leading cause of death globally. Furthermore, the prevalence and burden of COPD are projected to increase in the coming decades due to combination of continued exposure to COPD risk factors and aging of the world population. Despite a great improvement in the knowledge about COPD mechanisms and COPD management, so far there is still not personalized precision treatment like biologics used in the treatment of severe asthma and lung cancer. On the other hand, encouraging results have come from some studies with monoclonal antibodies approved for treatment of asthma investigated in COPD patients, some of which open a new promising avenue in the therapeutic approach to COPD. At the end, I wish you successful meeting that will be a great opportunity to gain knowledge with up-to-date research in COPD.
