About this talk
Copper is the most widely used metal in the field of electricity transport. Thousands tons of copper are manufactured every year as rods, tubes, bars, and other diverse section products. For a large production of copper, casting is the most suitable process. The production of copper wires is carried out by continuous casting which is a simple and economical method. Continuous casting is a process of melting and continuous solidification and it has been used for more than 100 years to produce components. Different continuous casting production techniques will be presented. In particular, the vertical continuous casting will be detailed. The metallurgical parameters and problems of the production of copper wires will also be presented. Some solutions for these issues were suggested.
