Biography:
Mor Pasi Deutschman studied Biotechnology Engineering at Ben-Gurion University, Israel, and graduated with a B.Sc. in 2018. Mor joined the research groups of Prof. Lital Alfonta and Prof. Smadar Cohen, focusing on synthetic biology and tissue engineering. During her PhD, Mor developed synthetic collagen by incorporating L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) into collagen-mimicking polypeptides (CMPs) using a unique genetic code expansion method in E. coli. This innovative biomaterial for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine led to a PCT patent application in 2024. Mor was awarded the Jabotinsky Scholarship and a $100,000 grant to scale production and explore wound healing applications.
