Abstract:
Background: Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs) with cancer face unique challenges impacting their physical and psychosocial well-being. This study aims to assess hand grip strength, functional capacity, and quality of life among AYAs with cancer at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Nigeria. The objectives of the research is to determine the mean grip strength among AYAs with cancer at LASUTH, and evaluate the functional capacity of AYAs with cancer in performing daily activities at LASUTH.
Methodology: The research employed a cross sectional research design, the population of the study was confirmed to cancer patients between 15-39 in LASUTH, Nigeria. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient for the validated questionnaire ranged from 0.70 to 0.85. Data will be analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics at 5% level of significance.
