Biography:

Javier Hernandez-Alba holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Durango Institute of Technology (ITD), where he completed his undergraduate thesis on the resizing of a sorption column for water treatment applications. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Technology at the Center for Research in Advanced Materials (CIMAV), where his thesis focuses on the use of recycled PET-based materials for the removal of lead and fluoride from water. His research interests lie at the intersection of sustainability and water treatment, particularly in the valorization of waste materials as low-cost sorbents. In addition to his research activities, Javier has contributed to science education as an instructor in mathematics and chemistry.
