Title : Effects of Different Silage Additives on Silage Quality of WL343HQ Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)
Abstract:
To explore the effects of different silage additives on the silage quality of WL343HQ alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), alfalfa dried to 60% moisture content after harvest was used as raw material, with six experimental treatments set: a control group (CK) with only distilled water, and five additive groups including Xinlaiwang I-straw silage agent (A), Xinlaiwang I-alfalfa silage agent (B), Zhuanglemei silage starter (C), Baoshiqing (D), and Kangfuqing S lactic acid bacteria additive (E). After 60 days of sealed storage at room temperature, fermentation indicators and nutrient components of each group were determined. The results showed that the NDF content of all additive-treated groups was lower than that of CK. Group B significantly increased lactic acid (LA) and crude protein (CP) contents (P<0.05), reduced NDF, ADF, pH, and ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen (AN/TN) ratio. Through membership function calculation, Group B achieved the highest average score of 0.81, ranking first with the best silage quality. In conclusion, different additives can optimize the silage effect of WL343HQ alfalfa to varying degrees, and Xinlaiwang I-alfalfa silage agent (B) exhibits the optimal performance by improving CP, carbohydrate, relative feeding value (RFV), and LA content.
