Title : Mineralogical, chemical and mechanical properties of earth building blocks reinforced with cement
Abstract:
The stabilization of earthen materials, in compliance with standards, enhances their strength and durability. This study on earthen mortar from Rabat examines the influence of chemical and mineralogical elements, combined with different cement contents, on mechanical properties and durability. The presence of calcite, quartz, kaolinite, and aluminum silicates, together with cement, improves cohesion through cementation and the formation of binding compounds. Tests confirm increased mechanical resistance and reduced water absorption, thus optimizing mortar performance under humid climatic conditions.
