Clinical Dentistry is an important branch of dental science that involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects that affect the teeth, gums, and other structures of the mouth. Clinical dentistry is an integral part of dental care as it enables dentists to treat the cause and/or manage the symptoms of oral issues. Clinical dentistry includes a variety of practices such as restorative and prosthodontic treatments like filling cavities, fixing broken or missing teeth, endodontics, or root canal therapy, periodontics, that involves treating gums and adjacent tissues, implant dentistry, and much more. Clinical dentists are responsible for treating and managing diseases of the oral cavity, jaws, and related structures, diagnosing and providing preventive measures like screening for dental caries and diseases of the oral cavity and teeth. While performing diagnostic procedures, they observe and record findings in patient’s health history and conduct thorough physical examinations to evaluate structure and functions. To keep up with the current developments in clinical dentistry, dentists regularly attend continuing education courses to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field. Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for successful clinical dentistry as it allows dentists to communicate with the patient more effectively and provide more accurate treatments. Good clinical skills are also necessary to perform the service desired by the patient. Ultimately, clinical dentistry is a highly complex field that requires accurate diagnosis in order to ensure the best possible outcomes. Therefore, dentists should be trained properly and regularly attend continuing educational courses to maintain the highest standards of the profession. It is important to note that clinical dentistry can help promote overall general health, thus, dentist should always strive to provide the best quality care and treatment to their patients.
