Biography:
Tahsin Akalin received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electronics from the University of Sciences and Technologies, Lille, France, in 1999 and 2002, respectively.,After two years as an Assistant Professor, he is currently an Associate Professor at IEMN (CNRS UMR-8520) and at IUT A, Lille 1 University, Lille, France. He works on periodic and random structures including metamaterials for propagating, filtering, and radiating components, and is especially involved in the terahertz (THz) science (sources, waveguides, antennas, and detectors). He works on electronic and optoelectronic approaches for bridging the THz gap in passive and active devices, and particularly on beam shaping of THz quantum cascade lasers and on THz photomixers.
