Abstract:

Probiotics have recently been applied in aquaculture as eco-friendly alternatives to antibiotics to improve fish health, simultaneously with the increase of production parameters. The aim of this reseach was to optimize fish feeding by probiotic bacteria use through investigation in vivo probiotic potentials of Pediococcus acidilactici and Pediococcus pentosaceus of tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) at the larval stage. The Pediococcus acidilactici and Pediococcus pentosaceus strains were incorporated in fish food signle and both. The water parameters of aquariums and zootechnical parameters were determined. The results revealed that dissolved oxygen values were ranged between 7.41±0.3 and 7.63±0.24 mg/L, the temperature values were comprised between 27,56±0.95 and 27.67±0.94 °C. The pH water values were ranged between 7.87±0.1 and 8.34±0.74 while the Total Dissolved Solids values were comprised between 209.97±1.5 and 267.32±2.11 ppm. The conductivity of water values were between 419.4±2.9 and 454.9±3.7 US and the salinity values were 0.2±0 and 0.36±0 PSU. In addition, the statistical not showed a significant difference (P<0.05) between the samples for a same parameter. The weight gain, weight gain per day and, specific growth rate values were more highed for fishes nourished with food enriched with Pediococcus acidilactici alone with 0.88±0.17g, 0.03±0.01 g/d, 14.34±0.68 %/d respectively. The strains Pediococcus acidilactici seemed suitable to use in probiotic fish food production.

Audience Take Away:

  • This result if it is valuable will allow increasing the income of aquaculture workers, increasing the fish production
  •  To provide good quality of fish to consumers.
