Pulmonary hypertension is a condition in which the blood vessels that supply the lungs have a high blood pressure (pulmonary arteries). It's a serious health issue that can harm the heart's right side. The walls of the pulmonary arteries thicken and stiffen, making it difficult for blood to flow through. Because of the lower blood flow, the right side of the heart has a harder time pumping blood through the arteries. If the right side of the heart needs to work harder all of the time, it can weaken over time. Heart failure may result as a result of this. Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disorder that can afflict people of all ages, but it's more likely in people who already have a heart or lung problem. Although pulmonary hypertension cannot be cured, medication can help you manage your symptoms and manage your condition. Pulmonary hypertension is a condition that normally worsens over time. If left untreated, it can lead to cardiac failure, which can be fatal, thus treatment should begin as soon as possible. If pulmonary hypertension is caused by another condition, the underlying condition should be treated first. This can occasionally prevent lasting damage to the pulmonary arteries. Anticoagulant drugs to lessen the ability of the blood to thicken (clot) and diuretics to remove excess fluid as a result of heart failure are two treatments for pulmonary hypertension.
