The majority of lung-related research focuses on disease aetiology and management. Interest in primary prevention of certain respiratory illnesses has developed for a variety of reasons, and a growing number of observational and experimental studies are being conducted to identify prospective intervention areas. Primary prevention, on the other hand, consists of two parts: (1) illness prevention; and (2) health promotion (activities made by a group to keep an individual healthy) (specific protective measures against the development of disease or actions taken before the onset of disease that reduce or remove the possibility that the disease will ever occur). Both actions might be carried out on the whole population or on selected groups of people. As a result, attempts to promote health recognise that "excellent health" involves more than just the absence of disease. The overall health depends on having strong lungs. Improving lung health helps you stay active, improves your overall quality of life, and supports healthy lung function.
