Abstract:
Obesity has been a major public health concern for a century. Exercise and dietary supplements can help manage weight and prevent obesity-related issues. HIIT is growing more popular than traditional workout. Antioxidant-rich Chlorella vulgaris (CV) supplements Thus, CV supplements and HIIT exercises may reduce obesity and its complications and increase muscle growth by enhancing oxidative conditions and irisin release. This study examined the effects of chlorella vulgaris supplementation, high-intensity interval training, and their combination on irisin serum levels, total antioxidant capacity, and segmental muscle mass in overweight and obese young women. Method: 46 overweight and obese women aged 18–35 with a BMI (kg/m2) of 25–34.9 were recruited after written informed permission. Four groups were randomly chosen. HIIT with CV, CV, and placebo were given to Groups 1–4. BMI matched age. Each subject's blood was tested for biochemical indicators and muscle mass before the intervention. Participants exercised three times a week and received a 900 mg supplement daily for eight weeks. Repeated post-intervention examinations. Results: After eight weeks of intervention, the TAC in the CV + HIIT group was much higher than in the placebo group (p< 0.05). But there were no big changes in the amount of MDA in the serum (p>0.05). Also, the serum level of irisin was significantly higher in the HIIT+CV group than in the placebo group (p< 0.05). However, TAC and irisin levels did not change significantly when CV was taken alone (p> 0.05). The segmental values of muscle mass did not change in a way that was important (p>0.05). Conclusion: HIIT with a Chlorella vulgaris supplement for eight weeks may enhance oxidative state and obesity-related illnesses by raising TAC serum levels. CV supplementation with HIIT activities may assist overweight and obese women improve body composition by boosting serum irisin levels.
