Lung cancer occurs when cells in the body divide out of control. This causes tumours to grow. These can reduce a person’s ability to breathe.
Small cell lung cancer- SCLC grows and spreads faster than NSCL. This also makes respond to the chemotherapy.
Non-small cell lung cancer- 30% of these cases start in cells that form the lining of the body cavities and surface.

large cell carcinoma
Mesothelioma is another type of lung cancer.
Screening:
Used to detect lung cancer. Screening is with a low-dose CT scan.
Diagnosis:
Imaging tests- X-ray, CT may be used to find the lung tissue with cancer.
Tissue sampling- A healthcare professional may wish to take a biopsy to check for cancer cells.
Treatment:
chemotherapy - kill the cancer cells
radiation therapy
immunotherapy
palliative therapy, including pain relief, oxygen therapy
