There is no question that a rapid increase in the earth's temperature will have significant consequences for our environment and health, as well as our economic and physical security. As a result, the majority of countries have committed to serious mitigation initiatives. Scientists are beginning to experiment with a wide range of technologies, which are sometimes lumped together under the ill-defined umbrella term "climate engineering." The deliberate and large-scale interference in the Earth's climate system is known as climate engineering or geoengineering. Solar geoengineering, also known as solar radiation control, is the most common type of climate engineering. To restrict or reverse human-caused climate change, solar geoengineering, or solar radiation modification, would reflect some sunlight (solar radiation) back to space.
