Clinical Genomics

Clinical Genomics

The study of clinical outcomes using genomic data is known as clinicogenomics, or clinical genomics. Clinical data is influenced by genomic variables. Clinicogenomics analyzes a patient's entire genome to diagnose disorders and alter treatments specifically for that patient. Targeted gene testing misses more mutations and structural abnormalities than whole genome testing. Furthermore, focused gene testing can only test for the diseases that the doctor screens for, whereas whole genome testing can screen for all diseases with known markers at the same time. The introduction of "next-generation" sequencing (NGS) technologies, which allow huge amounts of nucleic acid sequence to be produced in a clinically meaningful time period, has enabled clinical genomic testing. Clinical genomics examines the impact of genetic variants on our health, while pharmacogenomics aids in the creation of novel pharmaceuticals and aims to make more precise assertions about a medicine's potential efficacy in a specific patient.
