  • Mechanisms of Gene Regulation

Genome regulation spans all aspects of gene expression, from biochemical changes of DNA to chromosome physical organization and transcription machinery activity. Cells' genome regulation programs regulate which proteins are generated and at what levels. Every process of life, including cell differentiation, metabolism, the cell cycle, and signal transmission, relies on gene regulatory networks. Understanding the dynamics of these networks can help us better comprehend the diseases that result when these cellular processes go wrong. Accurate predictions of regulatory network behaviour will also accelerate biotechnological efforts, as forecasts are faster and less expensive than lab experimentation. Computational approaches have previously proven to be a useful research tool for both assisting the construction of network models and analysing their functionality.
