Immunoinformatics and COVID-19

Immunoinformatics and COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus 2 that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-2). The quantity of data on genomic and proteomic sequences of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) kept in multiple databases has expanded tremendously since the commencement of the COVID-19 pandemic. A significant number of these data has resulted in the creation of equally massive collections of immunological data, which must be sorted through and made sense of using rigorous computational methodologies. In recent decades, immunoinformatics has evolved as a science capable of providing this approach by integrating experimental and theoretical immunology with cutting-edge computational methods. Computational immunology, often known as immunoinformatics, is the intersection between computer science and experimental immunology. It denotes the application of computational approaches and resources to the comprehension of immunological data. It not only aids in the management of large amounts of data, but it also aids in the development of new theories about immune responses.
