Targeted Proteomics

Targeted Proteomics

Targeted proteomics, a technique for quantifying specific proteins, is an emerging subject in the study of proteomics. The precision, reproducibility, and multiplexing possibilities of this approach are excellent. Targeted proteomics has grown in popularity as a method for detecting proteins of interest with high sensitivity, quantitative precision, and reproducibility in mass spectrometry-based protein quantification. Targeted proteomics has grown in popularity as a method for detecting proteins of interest with high sensitivity, quantitative precision, and repeatability in mass spectrometry-based protein quantification. In contrast to other mass spectrometry methodologies, such as screening proteomics, in which thousands of proteins can be quantified without any prior knowledge, focused proteomics has been described as a tool to test specific hypotheses for a subset of proteins. It is necessary to make targeted proteomics more accessible in order for it to become an important aspect of research.
