Public Health Nutrition and Health Claims

One of the most important aspects of maintaining good health is proper nutrition. As a result, public health professionals frequently try to ensure that the general population has adequate nutrition. The public becomes more vulnerable to disease, illnesses, and other health difficulties if they do not eat a healthy diet. A public health nutritionist works to improve people's health and well-being by educating them about food and nutrition, assisting them in making healthier choices, creating a healthy environment, and developing supportive health-related policies.

A health claim is a claim made about a food and what it can do for your health when consumed as part of a balanced diet. Foods with health claims may help reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and osteoporosis, among other disorders. When eaten as part of a healthy and well-balanced diet, foods with health claims may help reduce your risk of these diseases. Health claims must fulfil the FDA's significant scientific agreement criterion, which requires that specialists qualified to evaluate the substance-disease association agree that the scientific data supporting the claim is valid and substantive.
