Nutrition and Food Science Research

Nutrition is an important aspect of one's overall health and development. Better Nutrition is linked to better new born, child, and maternal health, stronger immune systems, safer pregnancy and childbirth, a lower risk of noncommunicable diseases (such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease), and longer life expectancy.

Children who are in good health learn more effectively. People who receive appropriate nutrition are more productive and can help to break the cycle of poverty and hunger over time. Food science has emerged as a multifaceted field that incorporates traditional life sciences including chemistry, biology, nutrition, microbiology, physics, mathematics, and engineering. This field's ultimate goal is to provide a scientific understanding of food's molecular composition, which can lead to better, yet safer, food items for human consumption.

Food Science is the science and technology applied to the manufacture, production, processing, product creation, packaging, preparation, assessment, distribution, utilisation, and safety of food products. Food science is the study of what occurs to food from the time it leaves the farm, field, or water until it is purchased by the customer. Food scientists work in a variety of fields, including food processing, food preservation, product creation, and more.
