Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is a personalized, evidence-based dietary approach to treating certain medical diseases. MNT is based on decades of medical research on diet, nutrition, and health effects. It's not the same as nutrition education, which teaches the general population about nutrition but isn't designed to address medical disorders. MNT, on the other hand, teaches people how to effectively use their diet to support their medical problems. It aims to reduce the risk of future issues as well as address existing medical concerns. Medical Nutrition Therapy is a more comprehensive approach that provides you with the counselling and feedback you need to achieve your nutritional goals while also preventing or treating chronic disease. MNT is only available from a licensed dietitian and can be prescribed in either a hospital or outpatient setting.
